I think it was John Grace who once said "It's all just training for British Columbia". He was referring to the super challenging creeking and multi day wilderness whitewater trips that are located all over this mountainous province. There is a lifetime worth of easy and intermediate paddling too. Whether it is multi day ocean trips, winter whitewater paddling on Vancouver Island, surfing tidal rapids, creeking in the interior, remote trips up north BC offers it all and then some.

Whitewater Kayak Trips or Routes

Prince George

Upper willow
Willow River - This short but fun feature filled run is great when spring run of starts to slow down. At high water run of this section has a bundle of catch on the fly waves. This is a short run that can be lapped easily on the old logging road. At lower flows form small eddies behind boulders. Known to have large wood at times caught on boulders that create its features.
McGregor Canyon
McGregor River - The following river description has been taken from BC Whitewater ( and re-posted here with the author's permission (Michael Reeder). BC Whitewater is a non-profit whose goal is to provide a unified voice for whitewater paddlers in British Columbia, advocating for publicly accessible, free flowing rivers and speaking in support of river conservation. Sign up to become a member here: and donate to the cause of accessible, free-flowing rivers here: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A really nice 5km (ish) canyon located northeast of Prince George. Great character to the whitewater. The McGregor Canyon is a beautiful section of whitewater located a decent way off of the beaten path. With easy access to the put in, and presumed easy access to a takeout, (located a few km of flatwater downstream of where the 2 groups *known* to have done the run took out) the McGregor is well worth doing. *quite possibly someone has done run it that I don't know about* Classic big water canyon style rapids, only 1 mandatory portage which is easy at river level, beautiful dark canyon walls, far enough out there to feel like a real adventure. This would make a great warm up run for anyone on their way north for some multi-days.
