Eau Claire Gorge Section
Amable Du Fond River - Eau Claire Gorge runs all year long and is incredibly technical river running fun all the way through. Beware there are few breaks for amateurs. Come with a good roll and a pin kit just in case. There are many boulders on the run that are not forgiving to someone not paying attention. There are several blind drops that should probably be scouted for wood, however, there are microeddies enough to boat scout your way down. Multiple lines exist in the gorge. Do not forget there is a large waterfall en route. You will probably hear it, but be ready to eddy to your river right after one of the continuous sections quickly. A swim above the falls is not recommended. The main channel has apparently been run in high water by a local hero. Left channel looks technical, with wood needing removal before an attempt. If portaging the falls in the summer, just go to the end of the trail, the rapids are still too shallow in the falls washout to be worth the plastic. Eau Claire Cascades are straight forward right channel, and a possible undercut danger on the left channel. Even low this is fun. If the smaller bridge has water, you might want to scout this first. Several drops and ledges. The walk up when it was dry revealed several rebar.
