Diverse is how we would best describe the paddling in this mountain/prairie province. In the west of the province runs are characterized by beautiful backdrops, continuous rivers and cold water. Everything from mellow multi day floats in national parks to hairy class V creeking is available in the west. As you move further east the gradient drops but there are still plentiful paddling options for those looking to float mellow rivers in really unique surroundings. It is a huge province so don't neglect to look north and south too. A very worthwhile paddling destination in it's own right.

Bonnyville

Multiple Access Points
Moose Lake - Medium sized lake Located 5 min outside of Bonnyville, Alberta. Great for recreational paddling of any style with lots of wildlife and touring to be seen.
Lake Access
Tucker Lake - Small lake populated with wildlife and great fishing. Is a awesome lake for windy days because you can paddle along the shore lines and be protected from the wind.

Wolf Lake - Great Lake for recreational and touring around.
Multiple River Access
Beaver River - Slow moving river with multiple access and exit points. Great for day trips where you are looking to relax and see some wildlife. Paddle from Lessard Bridge to Ardmore Bridge takes about 3-5 hours. Paddle from Lessard Bridge to Cold Lake Bridge takes about 8 plus hours. Great relaxing paddle on a slow moving river.

Muriel Lake - Great camping and paddling.
Maloney Lake
Maloney Lake - It is definitely an adventure. A lake with two bays that is connected by a small narrow passage. Lots of bush waking and animal life with one beaver dam you have to jump, but with enough speed you jump right over.
Franchere Bay Launch
Thin Lake River - Pretty much a still river. Excellent location for a quiet paddle as you paddle away from the business of Moose Lake and up the river towards Thin Lake! Loads of wildlife and stunning and unique features.
