Parkhill
Grand River - Parkhill is a great play spot for beginner urban kayakers. Water is usually cold when it is in. 100cms to 190 cms on the Galt gauge is when its in. 140cms is really good for the hole and 160cms is good for the wave. The lower it is the shallower it is. The wave washes out above 200 cms.
Horahora/Pokaiwhenua Stream
Waikato River - Lovely paddle. Start at Horahora Domain and head up to Pokaiwhenua Stream. Easy Paddle and relaxing. Glow worms at night.
Hespler Pond
Speed River - This is a great there and back paddle of approx 90 - 120 minutes. Lots of wildlife especially herons. It may get shallow and muddy in late summer and fall, but little current to contend with.
