Upper Perry Map

Features

Upper Put In Parking

Park here and follow de-activated logging road to the river (1km), staying left at the fork.

Portage Take Out

Take out river left and portage/scout the canyon (Class 4-5, level dependent)

Upper Canyon

The often portaged largest rapid on the run. At flows below 80 cms it's class 4/4+ fun! At higher flows the rapid gets respectfully bigger and scarier looking..(V)

Portage Put In

Hike down here (steep) and put in in the pool immediately below the last drop of the canyon.

Carls Hole

Continuous rapid climaxing in a very munchy hole (just ask Carl..). Portage/Scout river right. Portage take out identified by a creek coming in river right just upstream of a horizon line. Immediately following Carls hole is a large undercut rock that often collects wood.

Undercut Rock

A very scary place. This rock immediately downstream of Carls hole is significantly undercut and often has wood stuck and sticking out of it. A must avoid..

Holes!

A fun continuous boulder garden with some rather large holes. Difficult to scout due to the thickness of the bush and the length of the rapid, it is most often boat scouted.

Take Out

The take out is up the bank via a small creek to this pull out. It's easy to miss so we recommend scouting/marking beforehand.

Carls Hole take out

Take out on river right here to scout/portage Carls Hole. Easily identified at river level by a creek coming into a fair sized eddy on river right, all above a horizon line.

Carls Hole Put In

Put in here when portaging Carls Hole.

Read and Run

Read and run fun all the way to the take-out!

Put In Below Upper Canyon

Park on a pull out just before a massive new cut block at 6km, where there is red paint on a tree. Follow the BLUE flagger through the cut block then into the woods down to the river. Pretty clearly flagged and trodden. 10-15minute walk.

Below Upper Canyon Parking

Park on a pull out just before a massive new cut block at 6km, where there is red paint on a tree.
