Trips and Routes

Thunder Creek to Bridge
White River - Medium volume run with lots of big wave at higher water and more technical boulder gardens at lower water. You can put in at any of the camping spots once the road gets close to the river (the second bridge is a good spot). It starts off with some class II rapids and gets a bit steeper and more technical at some turns when the river is close to the road. Watch out for some sneaky holes as you may have to move quickly to avoid them. After Blackfoot Creek watch for a sharp bend with a steeper section of whitewater. On the right is a long/steep gravel slope up 150 m to the road. This is S-Bends and can be scouted or portaged on river left. At lower flows it is a technical boulder garden, at higher flows it is a steep rapid with lots of holes. After this there are more class II rapids. The water is cold and continuous with few eddies so a swim/boat chase may end up being a longer one. Also once the river leaves the road, it is quite a hike/bushwack to find your way off the river if something happens.
Lower White River
White River - The Lower White is a longish day run, sometimes done as an overnight, through magnificent country. The top part of the run is in an open valley with mountain views and braided channels infested with log jams. The bottom part is in a canyon of white rocks and hoodoos with straightforward rapids.
