Salmo River - Sparking blue water in a remote canyon setting with great warm up class II/III section building to class IV boulder drops and gardens. A perfect example of progression in difficulty. The length of run is just over 11.5 km and ends in a large reservoir. The level of the Pend-d Oreille Reservoir can dictate the gradient of the last drop known as Bert's Drop. The difficult rapids of the Senango Canyon begin after about an hour of paddling and once you observe a small cabin on the river left. This is your last chance to take out before the canyon. There is a road that leads back to highway 6 after about 1.6 kilometres of boat hiking.
