Trips and Routes

Saskatchewan River Crossing to Preachers Point
North Saskatchewan River - Very technical, braided shallow channels
Devon - Edmonton
North Saskatchewan River - This is a great canoe trip. You would think you are way further away from the big city than you are . The river valley is incredibly scenic. There are no rapids to speak of but some sections of the river will be a bit swifter than others. Headwinds tend to be a greater threat than rapids. This trip can either be done as a long day trip, or as an over night camping on Big Island. There several put in and take out options. Shorter day trips can be had in Edmonton by combining the various river access.
Brierlies Rapids
North Saskatchewan River - The Brierlies, located near the town of Rocky Mountain House is as series of small waves that culminates into a uniform sandstone ledge notorious for flipping many-a canoe, tossing the drunken summer-tubers, tweaking a few shoulders and of course shaping the skills of many new paddlers.
50 St NW, Edmonton to Highway 38 past Bruderheim
North Saskatchewan River - An over-nighter from 50 St NW, Edmonton, AB to before Ft. Saskatchewan, AB, then off to Highway 38 NorthWest of Bruderheim, AB. Each section took a full day (6 - 7 hours each with breaks).
