Trips and Routes

Once in a lifetime wave
Moira River - Large river center wave with green River left shoulder. Only in during major flood events. Watch for wood and other potential river debris during flood. Best guess is gauge discharge must be above 220.
Electric Chair Wave
Moira River - A good sized powerful wave with strong shoulders and eddy access. Often compared to a mini-Garb. Flows and shape of feature may change with shifting rocks and bed surface.
Scuttlehole Road
Moira River - The Moira is one of the more moderate of the highway 7 springtime runs, and host to a popular river race every year. The river is usually still runnable after most of the other rivers in the area have become too low. The weir at the put in is not runnable at any level, so put in on the left bank downstream. There are a number of fun rapids, and often several choices around islands. The bedrock is limestone, and sometimes traps some wood in lower water levels. At higher flows, the river becomes a set of fun, bouncy wavetrains, the only real hazard being the trees on the bank. Do not go past the take out as there is a dam just downstream.
