Paddling on the Mitchel River

Mitchel River - Awesome whitewater, cool canyons and even cooler rapids to be found on this run, waterfalls, slides and tight canyon drops is the name of the game. river starts out mellow and then drops into a somewhat unrunnable canyon. there are some drops in the canyon that can and have been paddled but it requires hiking down on the river right side and then hiking back up after to portage the rest of the canyon on the river left. the canyon ends with a clean 35ft waterfall that can be run by climbing up the lookers right and putting into the pool above. keep your eyes peeled as there are still plenty of fun rapids left with one notable portage around a rapid with some wood, you can seal launch in on the river right. take time to scout blind corners and canyons for wood. the majority has been cut out but there is still potential.
