Upper Falls To Parking Lot
Johnston Canyon - This run start out below the upper falls which is 2.6 kilometers up the trail. Logan Grayling and Tao Berman have run the upper falls, and was a former world record at almost a 100 foot drop. Directly below the upper drop is another falls this drop has a flat slide that leads into a 20 foot drop. This is a great way to start the run but if you are not feeling it there is also a put in below this drop. The next drop, Stella falls, is a clean 15 footer with a good eddy off to the left to get out and scout. The next drop is the double drop. It is easy to run the first drop by boat scout but then you can not scout the second drop which is more substantial. The next drop is a small double ledge into a large pool with a 20 footer below. Watch out for ledges in this drop. After hopping over a log jam get out to portage the Lower Falls. Below this is another 5 foot drop. Don't go left because of a large undercut and you should be fine. The next drop is usually portaged. It is possible to seal launch back into the river just below or walk the trail down and miss some fun water. After this you are all free, there is one more drop but it is boat scoutabe. Just after this watch out for a log jams, it is easy to hop out and portage. After you can treat yourself to some nice ice cream. And enjoy this beautiful area or go right across the valley and hit up Red Earth creek.
