Barron Canyon
Barron River - Likely the most beautiful one day canoe trip in Algonquin Park - through the heart of the 70m deep Barron Canyon gorge. A flatwater trip with 3 easy portages. Suitable for all abilities.
Squirrel Rapids to Canyon
Barron River - Paddle up river and back. Involves one 450m portage each way; the terrain is rocky and uneven, and not suitable for a kayak cart. The Canyon is absolutely stunning.
Grand Lake - Achray
Barron River - Embark on an exhilarating canoe trip through Algonquin Park's Barron Canyon, starting at Achray (#22). Paddle across the serene waters of Stratton Lake, then navigate through St. Andrews to reach the scenic Opalescent Lake, where you can set up camp for the night. Continue your journey to Brigham Lake before entering the majestic Barron Canyon, known for its towering cliffs and breathtaking views. Conclude your adventure at the Squirrel Rapids parking lot, where you can take out your canoe. This route offers a mix of tranquil lakes and dramatic landscapes, making it a memorable outdoor experience.
